Natural fibres, refined through with comfort and responsibility held in

  1. We engineer fibre blends to balance breathability, moisture movement and temperature regulation.
  1. We consider material origin, waste inputs, durability and product life from the outset.

Everything We Make in Merino

One fibre, across the wardrobe. This is every Paire piece built on Australian Merino wool — thermal base layers, ultra-fine tees, SilKnit™ knitwear and the layers in between, gathered by fibre rather than by category.

Where Merino Sits in the Wardrobe

  • Base layers — 100% superfine Merino thermal long sleeves and leggings for women and men, at 18.5 microns.
  • T-shirts — 100% ultra-fine Merino short and long sleeve, the finest knit we make.
  • Knitwear — SilKnit™ sweaters and cardigans, where Mulberry silk is blended in to remove any hint of prickle.
  • Blends — BreezeBlend™ pairs Merino with eucalyptus fibre for summer; ReForm Merino fleece adds warmth for outer layers.

Why Australian Merino Specifically

Australia produces the majority of the world’s fine Merino wool, and the reason is climate: the conditions that stress the sheep least also produce the finest, most consistent fleece. Fibre diameter is what determines whether wool feels soft or prickly against skin, and consistency is what determines whether a garment feels the same across the whole surface rather than scratchy in patches. Sourcing locally also means a far shorter supply chain than wool shipped across the world for processing.

One Fibre, Two Opposite Jobs

The thing that confuses people about Merino is that it’s recommended for both alpine base layers and hot-weather t-shirts. Both are true, and for the same mechanism: the fibre absorbs water vapour from the skin into its own structure and releases it slowly to the air. In cold weather that keeps you dry under insulation, and dry is what keeps you warm. In hot weather the same evaporation actively cools. It isn’t insulating in one case and cooling in the other — it’s doing one thing, and the weather decides what that feels like.
